Department's next research meeting is on Tue 18.12 at 13:15 in room TC103.
* Presenter: Essi Isohanni
*
Topic: Are qualitative methods of any use in research on software systems?
Essi's briefing:
"I will extremely briefly tell about the work related to my PhD thesis that is settled in the field of Computer Science Education Research. In this work we have followed the Naturalistic Inquiry paradigm (Guba & Lincoln) and the Grounded Theory approach (Strauss and Corbin). If there's time, I will also give a couple of other examples of using similar approaches in CSER.
This short presentation is intended for those not familiar with qualitative approaches and I'm not planning to go into details or spend a lot of time talking myself. Instead, I would like to open a discussion on whether this kind of methodology could be useful in the research of other topics than education in our institute."
